Research & Information
MEF Research and Information Section conducts
surveys
with the objective of producing up-to-date information on compensation packages on an annual basis. Ad hoc surveys are also carried out to obtain views of members on current policy issues relating to labour matters.
The Surveys on Salary and Fringe benefits for Executives and Non-Executives are carried out in August each year. The surveys benchmark jobs from all industries and they provide useful information on weighted averages for each job area. Over the years, the MEF Salary Surveys for Executives and Non Executives were highly sought after by HR/IR practitioners as well as the Government as the data contained in the publications reflected the salary benchmarks of the private sector in Malaysia.
The MEF library is an important resource and reference centre for members. It has a comprehensive collection of Collective Agreements, Industrial Court Awards, books, magazines and reports.
The Research and Information section also responds to inquiries from members regarding the latest Consumer Price Index (CPI), labour statistics and economic data. There are also a number of queries on prevailing market rates for certain positions and fringe benefits.
A number of Industrial Relations publications are produced to keep members informed of the developments in government policies, legislation and important issues in labour-related matters.
The Research and Information Section also organises the National Conference, IR Conference and other Seminars.
