Analysis of Collective Agreements and Awards on Terms & Conditions of Employment, 2016

​The twelfth edition of this Report contains the analysis of salaries and terms of employment of 304 collective agreements given cognisance by the Industrial Court in 2016 and 41 Industrial Court Awards in 2016 that disputed on terms and conditions of employment. It serves as the essential reference guide for the unionised companies and IR/HR practitioners. The Analysis revealed that:

  • out of 287 collective agreements that provided for across-the-board salary adjustment, 169 collective agreements granted across-the-board salary adjustment at an average of 6.38 percent. 2 of 7 awards which were decided by the Industrial Court disputed on across-the board salary adjustment. The average percentage of across-the-board salary adjustment decided by the Industrial Court was 6.5 percent.
  • 42.9 percent of collective agreements in 2016 granted discretionary bonus only, 35.9 percent collective agreements in 2016 granted contractual bonus only, while 13.3 percent collective agreements granted both contractual and discretionary bonus. In 2016, the average amount of contractual bonus granted was 1.63 months
