Trainer
Dr. Dzulzalani Eden, Director – MEF Academy with more than 30 years' experience in the field of labour and industrial relations. Prior to joining the MEF, he began his career in 1990 with the Ministry of Human Resources, where he had held various positions namely as Labour Inspector, Senior Labour Officer cum Industrial Relations Officer and Senior Assistant Director of Labour at the Department of Labour Sarawak as well as at the Ministry’s Putrajaya office. The main duties carried out in these roles include enforcement of labour laws through workplace inspection, conciliation and arbitration of labour complain ts and dismissal cases, advisory roles, other labour matters and consultations with the public. In 2014 he joined Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS) and pursued a role as a Senior Lecturer of Industrial Relations (IR) and Labour Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities teaching labour and IR laws, negotiation and trade unions. He has also taught IR and labour laws at Universiti Malaysia Sabah. A strong educational professional having a doctorate in industrial relations and human resource management from Victoria University, Melbourne, he is also a certified trainer with the Human Resources Development Corporation(HRDC), Ministry of Human Resources.
 
Guest Speaker: Mr Lavaniyan Nathan
Mr Lavaniyan Nathan is a Law graduate from the University of Wolverhampton in 1998. After his graduation he joined the Ministry of Human Resource in the year 1999 as Assistant Director of The Industrial Relation Department. He served at the department until 2006 where thereafter he obtained a scholarship to continue his Master degree in the University of Malaya Law Faculty. After his master degree he was promoted as the Senior Assistant Director of the Labour Department attached to the Legal Division of the Department. He then was posted as the Senior Assistant Director of the Trade Union Department. In 2013, he was transfer to the Industrial Relation Department in Selangor. After a short stint as Senior lecturer of IR in UNIMAS, Sarawak, in 2019 he was promoted to Director of Industrial Relation Department of Negeri Sembilan. As an Industrial relations officer, Mr Lavaniyan is well versed with all aspects of the law relating to the employment. He is the conciliation officer on employment disputes involving matters related to dismissal, retrenchment, and all other forms of employment termination. He also attends negotiations on collective agreement for trade union and employers. He had given numerous talks and lectures on matters relating to industrial relations and employment to various employers and organisations. Mr.Lavaniyan had published several papers regarding sexual harassment at the workplace and rights of workers/unions relating to organised picket. He has option out from the government service in 2023 and since then has been practising law focusing on employment and labour disputes. He also have be retained by several company as their consultant on all matter related to labour issues. With 24 year of experience in labour and industrial matters as well as trade union issues, he is truly qualified to advice on any matter relating to employment issues.
