MEF Press Release

MEF hopes new Cabinet will do right for MalaysiaFriday, 27 August 2021
Press Release

PETALING JAYA: The new Cabinet line-up announced by the Prime Minister YAB Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today must provide continuity and consistency to ensure that efforts to urgently resuscitate the national economy and alleviate the Covid-19 situation are effective.

“MEF is happy that the long-awaited Cabinet had been announced and we hope the appointed ministers will work as a team to overcome the issues,” said MEF President Dato’ Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman J.P.

“Employers are faced with increasing Covid-19 issues amidst a very weak economy with business suffering and the new budget on the horizon.

“The business community and the rakyat are very tired and stressed out. We hope there will be political stability so that those in the ministerial positions can focus on these critical issues.

“To add to this, we need to address the rising rate of unemployment as a result of business closures, and the high death rate due to Covid-19.

“We hope all parties will work in unison as Keluarga Malaysia to move our country forward, and the Cabinet ministers only have one year to get their act together.”

He said MEF was pleased that the Ministry of Human Resources and the Ministry of Finance have remained intact as time is of the essence.

“The economy, the Covid-19 situation and the coming national budget are among some of the important matters before us and we should not risk making any major changes as it may disrupt plans that are already in place,” he said.

“What’s important is for the Prime Minister to have a good working team to support him and overcome current issues.

“As was with the previous Cabinet, we hope the new ministers will also engage with industry stakeholders to be involved to speed up the plans with commitment and dedication.

“We wish the Cabinet success and MEF is ready to assist in any way to achieve the Prime Minister’s targets.”
