MEF Press Release

MEF: Easing of restrictions and transition of NRP phases are positive indicatorsThursday, 16 September 2021
Press Release

The decision of the Special Committee on Covid-19 Pandemic Management to allow resumption and reopening of more sectors beginning Sept 17 gave employers confidence that Malaysia was on the road to full recovery.

MEF President Dato’ Dr Syed Hussain Syed Human J.P., in response to the announcement of Prime Minister YAB Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Wednesday, said the Federation supported the government’s decision to ease restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals under strict compliance of the SOP.

“The transition of states to Phase Two and Three of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) was also a morale booster for the rakyat with relaxation on corporate, social and recreational activities,” he said.

“Employers would now be operate at optimum levels as our corporate offices are allowed to operate based on percentage of fully vaccinated staff.

“We thank the Prime Minister for listening to our pleas. With our workforce and corporate office back at work in the office in full force, this would enable our businesses to operate at optimum levels.”

Dato’ Dr Syed Hussain also urged employers to comply strictly and self-manage the SOP at the workplace.

“Employers must properly manage the SOP at the workplace following the SOP and ensuring adequate air ventilation as self-management is the way to go in an endemic situation.

“We trust employers to self-manage the SOP properly to greatly reduce administrative stress.

“Only by working together – the employers, employees and government – can we successfully manage this endemic situation.

“Self-regulation and prevention is key to success of Keluarga Malaysia,” he added.
