MEF: Constant engagement with Minister of Finance addresses current and future needs of employersTuesday, 24 November 2020

​​MEF strongly supports the Minister of Finance’s efforts to engage with MEF in finding solutions to regenerate the Malaysian economy that has been devastated by the effects of Covid-19. 

“We thank Yang Berhormat Senator Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and the Ministry of Finance for taking positive steps to engage with MEF to discuss the issues affecting  employers and employees arising from Covid -19 pandemic,” said MEF President Dato’ Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman J.P. today. 

“The open and frank discussion provided both parties with a clearer picture of the present situation and we are confident that constant dialogue with MEF will allow for solutions that will address the current and future need of  both employers and employees.” 

Among the issues that were discussed during the discussion between Yang Berhormat Senator Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and the Ministry of Finance Minister and delegates of MEF that was held on 23rd November 2020 at Putra Jaya were on the Budget 2021 proposals, the wage subsidy programme, the PENJANA initiative, taxation, attracting foreign and domestic investments and employment of senior citizens.  

The MEF delegation that met with YB Minister of Finance Senator Tengku Dato’ Sri Zafrul and officers of his the Ministry in Putrajaya on 23rd Nov 2020 was led by MEF Vice-President En. Mohd Farid Shah Mohd Basir.  

The MEF delegation consisted of Honorary Treasurer Dato’ Ahmad Nadzarudin Abdul Razak, Council Members Encik Abdul Wahab Abu Bakar, Dato’ Sri Tan Thian Poh, Dr Michael Chiam Tow Hui, Encik Mohamad Audong, Encik Izham Bin Ab. Wahab; Executive Director Datuk Hj. Shamsuddin Bardan, and En. Mohd Zakri Baharudin, Sr. Manager – Employer Affairs.
