PETALING JAYA: Employers are advised to ensure that workers who are provided with accommodation in hostels to be inoculated against Covid-19.
MEF President Dato’ Dr Syed Hussain Syed Husman J.P., in response to the statement of the Minister of Human Resources Datuk Sri M. Saravanan on the liability of employers under the Workers Minimum Standards of Housing and Amenities Act (Act 446), said employers must be able to plan the inoculation exercise and be able to execute it effectively.
“Employers employing local and foreign workers, including undocumented foreign workers, must make sure that all workers are vaccinated, or risk being fined under Act 446,” said Dato’ Dr Syed Hussain.
“Employers must plan this execution properly so that both operations of the company and the inoculation exercise can be done successfully.”
He said MEF supports the view that all parties are equally responsible in the fight to overcome the spread of Covid-19.
“All of MEF members are aware of this responsibility and we are assured that they will carry out the vaccination of workers as required by the government,” he added.
