The Survey was carried out carried out in August 2016 with the objective of obtaining feedback from members on the current issues and challenges affecting employers. The views enabled MEF to effectively present employers’ views at the dialogues with the Government agencies such as the Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Ministry of Human Resources, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Economic Planning Unit and the Malaysian Productivity Corporation. 176 companies participated in the Survey.
Among the findings were 91.9% of the respondent companies indicated that the main challenges that they faced currently were the increasing cost of doing business followed by shortages of skilled labour (67.5%) and shortages of labour (44.4%). 86.1% of the respondent companies disagreed with the Government’s proposal that Employment Insurance Scheme (EIS).
